The Board of Education and Their Responsibility
The School District of Monroe has a nine-member Board of Education; members are elected to a three-year term with three members being elected each spring during the April spring election. The Board's role is to provide leadership and establish policy for the School District of Monroe. The Board sets district goals, determines curriculum and allocates resources to meet its objectives. It is responsible for ensuring that public resources are being effectively and efficiently managed while providing oversight to ensure that students are achieving at high levels and being prepared for the future.

Meetings
The Board meets at 7:00 PM on the second and fourth Monday's of each month at the District Administrative Center, located at 925 16th Avenue, on the third floor of the public library. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend all meetings that are held in open session. Time is allotted at every regular meeting for district citizens to make public comments regarding school district issues and concerns.
Meeting Agendas and Minutes
The School District of Monroe Board of Education uses "Board Docs", which is a paperless program that gives Board members and the public electronic access to all Board of Education agendas and minutes.
Annual Meeting
The District Annual Meeting is held in October. This is a meeting of the electorate, and agenda items include the approval of the current year budget and tax levy.
