2018-2019 Teacher Recognition Program Opens – Nominations Sought
Nominations are now being sought for a School District of Monroe Educator. The goal of the program is to partner with the District to help retain and attract high-quality teachers.
Community members are encouraged to nominate a School District of Monroe educator for the 2018-2019 program. Nomination forms can be found on the district’s website at www.monroeschools.com. Nominations are due no later than December 7, 2018. Teachers who are nominated will then go through an application process. Teachers are also encouraged to apply directly for the award.
Colony Brands committed to a 5-year pilot of the program beginning in 2017. Up to $20,000 in monetary awards may be made in each year of the pilot. The idea for the Teacher Recognition Program came about during ongoing discussions between the Foundation and the District over the course of a 4-year partnership involving a $400,000 Technology Initiative funded by the Foundation. In 2017, seven teachers were awarded the honor.
The Teacher Recognition Program recognizes that schools are a cornerstone of a strong community, and educators are pivotal in helping to inspire future community leaders. Striving to improve, innovate, and create, relentlessly pursuing excellence and generously supporting our communities are among the values at Colony Brands and for their employees, and this program puts those values into action.
Teachers who apply for the award are asked to submit information on their leadership characteristics, significant educational achievements in student growth, and leadership and other roles both for the school district and community.

Monroe Excellence In Education 11th Annual "Magic, Music & More" Fundraiser
Sunday, December 9th at Flanagan's Shenanigans
3:30-6:30pm
The event features a steak dinner, silent auction of items made by the District's very talented students, and entertainment. You will be mystified by teh "Mystical Kid" (Trent Weber) and his magical talents and you will be put in the holiday spirit through a performance by Monroe High School students. This event has raised over $122,000 in support of Monroe Excellence in Education, which supports the students of the School District of Monroe. Last year, grants were awarded totaling $13,490 to fund nine innovative projects in areas such as technology in the classroom, classroom enhancement materials, math, books for classroom libraries and the arts.

Monroe Excellence in Education is a non-profit organization independent of the School District and the Board of Education. It is a component of the Monroe Fund organized under the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
