LAUNCH opportunities for Monroe High School in 2025-2026!
What is LAUNCH?
LAUNCH is a collaborative classroom experience for Juniors and Seniors featuring project-based learning to solve real-world problems right here in our community. Students will have the opportunity to take classroom knowledge into the real world and gain experience working with local business mentors. Students will develop career skills in leadership, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, time/project management, and more.
Teams of 3-5 students will work with project coaches (from businesses and nonprofits) and their teachers to solve a different project each trimester.
What Strands of Study are available?
Our 2025-2026 topic areas (known as Strands) include Business Analytics, Media Solutions, Behavioral Health, Skilled Building Trades (Build and Renovation), Healthcare Solutions, and Applied Manufacturing & Entrepreneurship. More Strands of study may be added in the future.
Business Analytics Strand
Business Analytics students pursue knowledge and develop skills in capturing and analyzing data to inform decision making. Students apply their learning through projects that require collaborative teams to solve problems and communicate results to business and industry partners.
Courses: Statistics (1 credit), Business Management (1 credit), Mentorship (0.5 credits)
Media Solutions Strand
Media Solutions students pursue knowledge and develop skills in graphic design, photography, videography, audio, social media, graphic web design and digital technologies. Students apply their learning through projects that require collaborative teams to solve problems and communicate results to business and industry partners.
Courses: English 11 (Juniors)/Advanced Writing (Seniors) (1 credit), Social Media for Business (0.5 credits), Graphic Design (0.5 credits), Mentorship (0.5 credits)
Behavioral Health Strand (1.5 credits - 2 trimesters)
Students investigate interventions involved in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health. They design innovative solutions to promote mental health and wellness.
Courses: Developmental Psychology (1 credit), Mentorship (0.5 credits)
Healthcare Solutions Strand
Students learn the skills that are required to be a Certified Nursing Assistant and gain an understanding of organ systems and their functions.
Courses: Anatomy & Physiology (1 credit), CNA (1 credit/2 credits from BTC), Mentorship (0.5 credits)
Skilled Building Trades - Build (4 credits)
The Skilled Building Trades strand will prepare students interested in careers in the skilled trades for various technology-related industries. It will expose students to the materials, tools, machines and processes used in light building construction. It uses a problem-based, hands-on learning approach to construction, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical, and uses the design process in building projects. Students will build a house.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, a light building/construction/carpentry course and OSHA 10.
Courses: Math for the Trades (1 credit), Light Building Construction (2 credit), Mentorship (1 credit)
NEW! Skilled Building Trades - Renovation (4 Credits)
The Skilled Building Trades strand will prepare students interested in careers in the skilled trades for various technology-related industries. It will expose students to the materials, tools, machines and processes used in light building construction. It uses a problem-based, hands-on learning approach to construction, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical, and uses the design process in building projects. Students will remodel a house.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Algebra, Geometry and OSHA 10. Some knowledge and experience of tools/construction preferred.

NEW! Applied Manufacturing & Entrepreneurship (2.5 Credits)
The Applied Manufacturing & Entrepreneurship strand will provide advanced skills and knowledge in the use of metal machining, casting, welding and fabrication methods while developing and implementing a successful Cheesemaker Manufacturing business that will fabricate metal manufacturing projects for local businesses.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Metals 1 or Welding 1
Courses: Advanced Metals (1 credit), Manufacturing Entrepreneurship (1 credit), Mentorship (.5 credit)
