Northside Elementary serves approximately 400 kindergarten through fifth grade students and is located on the northeastern side of Monroe. Northside is proud of its tradition of high academic achievement and a warm, caring environment where relationships are encouraged and valued. We believe in meeting the needs of ALL students and providing the most enriching, positive educational experience possible.
Message from the Principal
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Northside Elementary School! I am honored and excited to begin my first year as Northside’s principal! It is my sixth year serving students and families in the School District of Monroe. I look forward to getting to know our students, families, staff, and community while building on the many wonderful traditions that make Northside such a special place.
Our mission is to empower every child to reach their greatest potential by maintaining high expectations and providing quality instruction in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. We believe every child brings unique strengths, talents, and experiences to our school. This year, our LEGO-inspired theme, “Every Piece Matters,” reminds us that every student, family, and staff member plays an important role in our school community. Together, we will set meaningful goals, celebrate progress, and help each child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Strong partnerships between school, families, and the community are essential to student success. We welcome and encourage families to be active participants in their child’s education. There are many ways to become involved, including joining the PTO, attending school events, volunteering, and staying connected with your child’s teacher and our school.

All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication primarily with email, text, and app notifications.

Each of the three elementary schools use the following curriculums that align with Common Core State Standards. All teachers use a variety of instructional strategies in the classroom to address the needs of our student population.

All elementary schools have a Library Media Center (LMC) and 1:1 Chromebooks for students in grades K-5th.
The School District of Monroe follows a Response to Intervention (RtI) or Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework in both academic achievement and social-emotional learning that focuses on early intervention, a tiered system of interventions, and consistent monitoring of data to measure the effectiveness of our curriculum and instruction. Northside Elementary feels that social-emotional learning is just as important as academic achievement and utilizes a positive behavioral approach, known as PBIS, that includes teaching our school expectations, building community, and acknowledging positive choices. All of our school rules revolve around the three expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe.
