- 4K Site Descriptions
- The 4K program is offered at several sites within the community and district. The following early learning agencies work in collaboration with the district: Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, Headstart, Monroe Preschool, Rainbow Childcare, St. Victor School, and the YMCA. Each program is facilitated by a DPI certified teacher. In addition, each program is offered four days per week, Monday through Thursday, with three-hour sessions. Each site is unique in what it has to offer students; however, each site is required to follow district curriculum in conjunction with their existing curriculum to provide consistent foundational early education experiences for all students who participate. It is important to note that children entering 4K will not be held back in the program a second year.

Mission
Our mission as the Monroe School District 4K collaborative community program is to ensure a positive and supportive learning experience for our students that lays the foundation for developing and understanding each child as a whole person.
Vision
The Monroe School District 4K will collaborate with families and partner with the community to provide high quality, hands-on learning experiences.
We value...
-
a play-based approach to learning, grounded in the Wisconsin Early Learning Standards
-
a common curriculum framework based on those standards
-
a collaborative relationship among 4K staff, enhanced by professional development opportunities
-
a safe and welcoming environment that supports children's different learning styles
-
a 4K program that is accessible to all four year olds
-
a strong partnership with families and the community
Transportation
We offer one way door-to-door transportation for 4K students. Students only get one way busing unless they live in the country or on the west side of Highway 69. Rural AM students will ride regular bus routes to school and door-to-door transportation will be offered home. Rural PM students will get door-to-door transportation to school and then will ride regular bus routes home at the end of the day. In-town students will get door-to-door transportation during the mid-day routes, but not before or after the regular school day. They may receive transportation the other direction to specific sites in the community as a part of a regular before or after school bus route. For planning purposes, we want you to know that the bus drivers are required to see an adult when dropping off or picking up your students. More information on busing will be included in your placement packet that will be sent to you once your child's 4K site has been determined.
