Operating Referendum
Operating Referendum
The School District of Monroe shared an overview of its Potential Budget Reduction Plan (click the link below) during the November 24 Board of Education meeting. Due to years of declining enrollment, rising costs, and state funding limits that haven’t kept pace with inflation, the district has already made significant cuts - including the reduction of 27.8 staff positions since 2022.
If the April 2026 operational referendum is not approved, the district will face more than $2 million in additional reductions, including the loss of 22.5 more staff positions. These cuts would increase class sizes, reduce intervention and at-risk supports, and significantly limit elective and advanced learning opportunities for students.
The district remains committed to transparency and responsible budgeting and invites the community to stay engaged. Additional updates will be shared as discussions continue. #CheesemakerPride
