The Monroe Middle School is utilizing a new digital hall pass system.
Minga’s Digital Hall Passes ensure easy hallway access for students and reduced interruptions to instructional time.
Not only do Digital Hall Passes improve safety and security on campus, they also increase student punctuality and accountability.
Our MMS goals for this system are twofold:
1. Safety: To ensure we can quickly & accurately determine where students are should we have an emergency situation (fire, tornado, intruder, etc.)
2. Learning: To keep our students engaged in learning in classrooms as much as possible.
These goals also align well with our new CHEESE behavioral expectations that we also rolled out to students and staff this week:
C: Character
H: Hard Work
E: Empathy
E: Excellence
S: Safe Choices
E: Engaged Learners
How the system works:
1. Student asks the teacher for permission to leave class (drink, bathroom, locker, etc). Student opens Minga on Chromebook.
2. Teacher gives permission at an appropriate time during class.
3. Student opens Minga app on Chromebook & clicks on pass type.
4. Teacher approves by clicking.
5. Minga approves/denies based on # of passes out for specific areas.
6. Students will leave their Chromebook in the classroom and be allowed to leave for class.
7. Each pass has a specific time designation to ensure students get back to class as quickly as possible.
8. Admin and staff have access to Minga to check in with students if out of class at any time and to ensure they have a teacher approved pass.
