What We Do

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction oversees the curriculum, instruction, and assessment for PK-12th grade. Student learning is the focus that drives everything we do around our curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Our district utilizes professional learning communities (PLCs) when determining instructional change and student learning. The main focus is always student learning.

The following four essential questions direct all of the work we do with curriculum and instruction:

  1. What is it we want our students to know and be able to do? (Curriculum/standards/objectives or learning targets)

  2. How will we know if each student has learned it? (Formative and Summative Assessment)

  3. How will we respond when some students do not learn it? (Response to Intervention – Differentiated Instruction)

  4. How will we extend the learning for students who have demonstrated proficiency? (Differentiated/Enrichment)
