MMS - 7/8 Student Schedules changes due to late teacher vacancy

Posted Date: 8/14/25 (8:52 AM)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to inform you of an important change to our course offerings and student schedules for the upcoming school year. Unfortunately, due to the inability to fill a late-summer teacher vacancy in both Agriculture and Technical Education, we have had to adjust our building schedule and make changes to individual student schedules.

Tech Ed 7
All students who were previously enrolled in a trimester-long Tech Ed 7 course will now be placed in a Math 7+ class. This class is designed to provide additional time and structure to help students strengthen foundational academic skills primarily through the use of the IXL learning platform. The focus will be on reinforcing key concepts through independent practice and individualized goal setting. Students will work toward personalized learning goals, and their progress will be monitored throughout the trimester. Math 7+ will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis with grades determined by student effort and goal attainment.

Agriculture and Technical Education 7/8
All students who were previously enrolled in Agriculture or Technical Education classes will be reassigned to other elective courses. While these electives may occur during the same hour as the original class, some students may experience more comprehensive changes to their schedules to accommodate available options.

Please know that we will continue our efforts to fill the Agriculture/Technical Education position throughout the school year and will notify families if the position is filled and course offerings can be restored.

We understand that these changes may cause some disruption and appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work to provide meaningful learning experiences for all students.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s updated schedule, please contact the main office.

Sincerely,
Matt Brown
Principal, Monroe Middle School
