MMS - OTUS Citizenship Grade information
Parents and Guardians--
At week 4, it's a little early to give formal academic grades on our enduring course skills. We understand that you would like communication early about how your student is progressing toward proficiency on these skills. In an effort to communicate this progress, your student will earn a week 4 citizenship grade. This citizenship grade reflects attending school regularly, active participation in class, completing their own work on time, and engaging in the classroom community. Generally, we feel as though students who exhibit these behaviors, along with our supports, will be on track to be successful in school.
Your student will receive a citizenship score in each course that you can access in OTUS by 3:30pm on Friday with the exception of Homeroom, ELA+/Math+ and ELA/Math Interventions classes. On the citizenship rubric, a 4 means a student is doing everything we want them to do, without reminders. A score of 1 means a student is not doing these things. If your student has received a 1, the classroom teacher should have already spoken with your child about their current score and discussed how to make improvements. Additionally, the teacher should have reached out to you via OTUS mailbox, email or with a phone call.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s citizenship scores, please reach out to the classroom teacher.
