HOMECOMING WEEK OCTOBER 6TH-10TH

Homecoming Dress-up Days

To celebrate and support Homecoming on Friday October 10th, we will be showing our pride with a week of fun dress up days at MMS! We encourage any students and staff that would like to participate to dress in fun attire for the week. Please note that all outfits must be school appropriate and not interfere with classroom learning. Thank you!
A red graphic lists Homecoming Dress Up Days with themed days for each weekday.

Parade/Football Game Expectations/Reminders

Parade:
We would like to remind everyone that the Homecoming parade will be taking place at 2:00pm Friday afternoon.  The middle school will release students at the normal Friday time of 1:28pm. Students must leave the building at that time.

The parade route does leave the high school parking lot at 2:00pm. and comes down 15th Avenue past the Middle School and around the Downtown Square.

Please take a moment this week to work out a family plan with your student for homecoming.

Football Game:
For home varsity football games, elementary and MMS students are expected to have an adult that is attending the game to be responsible for them. This policy is to ensure the safety of all elementary and MMS students of the School District of Monroe. Please make sure the adult is walking into the game with the students that they will be responsible for.  Unaccomplanied students will not be allowed into the game.

MMS students have their own bleacher section at MHS football games. Students are expected to sit with their parents in the large bleachers or in these bleachers with MMS students.

"Carry-ins" are not allowed at the game. This includes bottled or canned beverages, soda fountain cups, tailgate foods, footballs, frisbees, etc. Backpacks, purses and other bags are subject to search.

Go Cheesemakers!

FALL PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES - OCTOBER 14

We are off to a great start this school year at Monroe Middle School! A sure sign of fall is Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences are a wonderful opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teachers, discuss their progress to date, and identify areas of strength as well as areas in need of improvement. We encourage you to bring your student with you to conferences. It is helpful to have them present for these meetings. This year, we will be holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 14th from 4:00-7:00 PM..
Again this year for conferences, we are asking parents to utilize the Family Access feature of Skyward to make appointments to visit with teachers. If you have any questions, please contact us at 328-7120. This online scheduling will be open and available on October 7th at 8:00 AM.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY - OCTOBER 16

Illustration for Picture Retake Day featuring a camera, photos, and text.
The MMS School Photos and Student IDs have arrived from Lifetouch. By now, all students that were photographed should have received their envelope.

All students that were photographed on our first photo day will receive a student ID in their envelope. If parents placed an order online or on photo day, the order should be in the envelope as well. If your order form was turned in late to the office, these photos will be delayed from this original shipment.
If you didn’t place an order, you will be receiving a proof sheet with a new order code that may be used to view and order photos at this time. If your student turned their order into the office after picture day, the photos will not be in this first shipment.

Please ask your student about the photo packet if they don’t remember to give it to you.

Retakes will be on October 16 at 8:30 AM. We will call all students that have not been photographed first. If you would like a retake, please send the photo packet with your student that morning. They will give the envelopes to the photographer. Photos may be ordered online or a paper order form is available to pick up in the office for retakes.

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS

A chalkboard background with school supplies and the text 'Every Day Counts'.

Did you know?
Chronic absence means missing 10 or more days of school in a year—whether the absences are excused or unexcused.
In the School District of Monroe, 39.9% of our students were chronically absent last year. While this is just below the state average of 40%, we know we can do better—together.
Every day matters for learning, friendships, and future success. Let’s make 2025–26 the year we lower that number and show that in Monroe, Every Day Counts!

COLD WEATHER DRESS INFO

A thermometer shows a low temperature, indicating cold weather.
While it may still feel like summer outside right now, we all know Wisconsin weather! It is sure to change and often changes quickly. Please be sure your student is prepared with the appropriate clothing as we move through fall. We encourage students to dress in layers and bring sweatshirts/coats/hats/gloves to school as we will still plan to go outside for recess unless there is inclement weather.
